FIRE BREATHER
This was artwork created for BC Rich electric guitars as part of their 2003 "Body Art" series. The guitars were
released once a month for a year and my artwork was featured on three of them as well as shirts. Below is the
original painting and what the final guitar looked like.

Interesting note, when I went to BC Rich to meet with them about designs they wanted guitars that
appealed to metal kids but they stayed away for any rough or too evil looking imagery and what
came out was really toned down more eighties type artwork. I remember sitting in their boardroom
with a skecthbook in hand drawing evil image after evil image but they seemed to be nervous about
how dark they could go...some ideas never used were classic movie monster designs, a guitar that
looked like ripped open mid-section, devils, horned beasts and some demon women. They were
very nice people that worked there and they treated me very well but they seemed to be hesitant
to do anything too dark.

I did two paintings of skulls for the "Skull Pile" guitars but they were changed a lot and there was
some cheesy fire added at the end. In addition, there were shirt designs that I did for them but I do
not have the artwork anymore as the company I was working with has shut down. Although I enjoyed
doing this work, I still cringe when I think about what could have been if I was given more creative freedom.
